Silver jewellery making workshops
I offer both bespoke workshops and a selection of short workshops that you can chose from the menu below. Please also get in touch if you have a particular design you would like to make. Jewellery making is not only a fabulous craft but a chance for you to spend some well earned relaxing time out.
You will use traditional tools and learn techniques such as sawing, filing, drilling, forming, soldering, annealing and polishing. Yes, that is a lot of ‘ings’! Also, what has not changed is the sense of reward and satisfaction you will feel for creating your own piece of jewellery. Workshops are for 1 or 2 people. All metals and materials are included in the cost of the workshop as well as tuition from an experienced jewellery maker (me!). Minimum age of participants is 16 unless accompanied by an adult.
Stacking rings workshop
Learn how to make a set of fashionable sterling silver stacking rings with a design of your choice. You can add balls, add texture, use brass elements; be as creative as you want. This is a great workshop to create rings that reflect your personality.
Duration: 2.5-3 hours; Cost: 2 rings £50, 3 rings £60
Cuff bangle workshop
A sterling silver cuff bangle is an incredibly striking piece of jewellery; worn by the earliest of civilisations and now unbelievably contemporary in design. These bangles are also very easy to make, especially as no soldering is required. Be prepared for lots of stress relieving hammering!
Duration: 1-1.5 hours; Cost: £55
Bangle with charm
Choose the shape of your silver wire (D-shape, square or round) to create a bangle which can be textured or kept plain. Personalise with a disc charm that can include your loved one’s names or initials or cut out a particular shape that has a meaning for you.
Duration 3.5 hours; Cost: £70
Two sets of stud earrings
You can never have enough earrings, right? Add these two contemporary designs to your collection. The circle set can be made in any size and the bar earrings can be as short or long as you want.
Duration 2-2.5 hours; Cost £45
Using a lovely 2mm square wire, create a heart pendant of your design. I love asymmetry in jewellery (otherwise known as wonky!) but if you want your heart to be perfectly symmetrical then I encourage this too! 16, 18 or 20 inch chain is included in the price.
Duration 2.5-3 hours; Cost: £60
Wide ring with beaded detail
If you are one who prefers a more chunky ring, this workshop is just for you. Create a wide ring with a beaded feature. You can texture the ring or keep it plain and simple.
Duration: 2.5 – 3 hours; Cost: £60
Stone setting workshops
This is a popular workshop and to be able to create a gem set ring or pendant within the 3.5 hours, instead of making the setting by hand I will provide pre-made settings for you to pop your favourite stone in.
Duration 3.5 hours; Cost: dependant on type and size of stone. Please contact me for more details.
I am not one to stifle creativity and if you have a particular piece of jewellery in mind then we can arrange a bespoke workshop. Please contact me with your design idea and then I can determine whether it can be made in 3.5 hours or suggest similar alternatives. You could also book more than one session if you would learn a bit more about metal working.
Make your own wedding rings
The build-up of any wedding can prove stressful and over-whelming so why not take some time out and spend time together in a relaxing environment making your own wedding rings? You will be able to work in silver and gold. For platinum you would make the rings in silver and then they would be sent to a casting company to make an exact copy. Photos will be taken throughout the workshop to remind you of a wonderful experience. Price will vary according to metal chosen so please contact me to discuss your requirements.
Why not buy a workshop gift voucher for a loved one or friend? Please contact me for more information. Currently there is no expiry date on vouchers.
How to book
Workshop times, dates and safety
Workshops are now dictated by safety so please be flexible in case we have to postpone your workshop at the last minute. Workshops will run from Monday to Friday throughout the year and some Saturdays are available upon request. I will be continuously checking the government guidelines on safety and local restrictions and if we have another lock down, workshops will have to temporarily stop.
What to bring
Face mask, refreshments, hair tie, closed toe footwear and glasses if needed for intricate work. Also recommended is lots of patience and a good sense of humour!
I am located in Leighton Buzzard, Bedfordshire. Easily accessible from M1 junctions 11 and 12, A5, A41 and Leighton Buzzard train station (Euston line).
Had a perfect day in the workshop yesterday. Jude was wonderful, very patient and definitely a lot of fun. I would highly recommend a day with her creating your own personal piece. It’s so rewarding to be wearing something that I designed and made! I am absolutely in love with it. Thank you so much x
